Work from Home! What three things are you doing today to move your business forward?

Just had a representative tell me she had a busy schedule with her children and family obligations. She  asked for advice and I issued her the challenge Rose LaFata issued me all those years ago:
What three things are you doing today to move your business forward:
1) Send 3 emails a day to prospective customers
2) Call 3 people a day to offer your business opportunity
3) Drop 3 brochures/pamphlets off somewhere today offering the features/benefits of your business both buying and selling (or send 3 brochures/flyers/pamphlets or letters to targeted prospects).
That's it.
Every day.
7 days a week
At the end of the month you will have:
1) Sent 90 emails
2) Offered your business opportunity to 90 people
3) Dropped off 90 brochures/pamphlets (or mailed 90 brochures/pamplets/flyers to targeted prospects)
In less than an hour a day.
In three months you will have:
1) Sent 270 emails
2) Offered your business opportunity to 270 people
3) Dropped off 270 brochures and pamphlets (or mail 3 flyers / pamphlet to targeted prospects)
Everyone can do this.  Every day no matter how busy you are.
AND your business will be booming in 3 months.

Texting - Business Etiquette

Here is an excellent article by Lynn Huber regarding texting businesses!

8 Suggestions for Texting Anyone You Do Business With

Texting Etiquette for BusinessTexting is a great tool for both business and personal use for many reasons.  It is quick, easy, and less disruptive than a phone call.

But if you’re not careful, it can also be disrespectful and unprofessional in the business world.

What’s considered acceptable when texting friends is very different than what is acceptable when texting business contacts.

Here are some tips that are especially important while texting for your business:

1.  Before texting a customer or business partner, ask permission.  Make sure they are OK with it.  Not everybody is texting yet, or comfortable with it.

2.  Be careful about being totally focused on your phone while walking down the hall.  People may be hesitant to approach you because they don’t want to interrupt.

3.  Use proper grammar and punctuation, especially for business messages.  It is still important to be professional.

4.  Identify yourself in your text, especially if you aren’t positive that the other person has your cellphone in their contact list.

5.  Turn off audible text alerts, especially if you’re in a meeting.  If you’re expecting something important, switch your phone to vibrate and put it in your pocket.

6.  While it’s OK to confirm a meeting by text, it’s not a good idea to change one this way.  Not everyone is glued to their phones all the time and may not receive your message in time.

7.  Be respectful of other’s schedules.  Just because you’re awake don’t send someone a text in the middle of the night.  They might have their phone near their bed and you could wake them.

8.  Be sure to end your conversations.  Don’t leave the other person hanging, wondering if you’re going to answer.

For over forty years in my career in Corporate America, my life was scheduled: I had to be in the office at 8:00 AM and my lunch hours rarely varied.  I HAD to return on time within the hour because others were waiting for me to take their lunch hour.  I had to leave at 5:30 PM to fight the rush hour traffic from downtown Detroit.  Though I've always felt blessed I had been steadily employed for over forty years, I love working from home where I can sleep through rush hour traffic, schedule my lunch when want, make my appointments at my leisure, and I make the decision as to when I end my day!

Avon-How to sell fragrances online!

 Rare Gold!  Elegant and Sensual
Exude mystery with this warm, opulent floral of Ylang-ylang and Bergamot, surrounding a lush heart of Jasmine and Gardenia entwined with precious woods, luxuriant Musk, Amber and Vanilla. 1.7 fl. oz.

SCENT SENSE: this is a floral scent. Beautiful, feminine scent that evokes flowers.

The key to running an effective online store is digging deep into your audience’s needs and motivations. It’ll take a bit of work to get there, though. Luckily, the web offers a variety of resources for researching your audience.
Some good places to start include forum sites, online communities, lifestyle magazines and social networks. Once you’ve collected enough information, you can start constructing profiles of your typical customers. Audience research is a crucial part of learning how to sell fragrances online.

2. Identify keywords that interest your market.

To gather an audience from search engines, you’ll want to identify keywords and phrases that customers might use to find you. Some examples might be “Christian Dior cologne,” “Calvin Klein perfume” and “fragrances for men.” Do some research using Google Analytics or another service to find out which keywords get the most traffic.
Keyword research is a critical part of your SEO strategy. You’ll want to build content and meta-content around these keywords to bump your site up in the search rankings. SEO is another step on the road to learning how to sell fragrances online.

3. Create relationships with manufacturers.  We have award winning Avon products!

Buying wholesale is the best way to turn a profit when you sell direct to the consumer. Wholesale Central, Name Brands Perfume and Fragrance Wholesale are all good places to start your quest to find the right distribution partner.
Contact the wholesalers directly to get pricing quotes. Compare wholesale prices to current market prices and calculate your profit per sale. Everything should come up roses. If it doesn’t, you may want to look into other options for distributors.

4. Choose the right shopping cart software.  We have this feature with our online webstore!

Of course, an online store is only as strong as the software that powers it. As you learn how to sell fragrances online, you’ll understand that your software platform is one of the most important parts of the experience.
For instance, you’ll want to get set up with a shopping cart software that empowers you with easy social sharing. Email marketing will be a crucial part of promotion; your software should have simple ways to automate your email lists.  We have this feature, too, with Avon!

Campaign 7 ended the selling year last week!

We are now starting a new Avon year!

As you know, this selling year will be shorter due to the change that Avon has made to end the selling cycle the last week of December 2014!

I personally want to thank all my valued customers, friends, manager, representatives, subsellers and Annette Desmarais my awesome helper, for a wonderful Avon year.  At the last moment, I made President's Club for the 14th straight year!

Thank you all so very much!

As we start the new year, what are you goals? Dreams? Plans?

How do you plan to achieve those goals?

How much do you want to earn with your Avon business?

Are you using Social Media to advertise your business?  If so, which ones?  Pinterest? Facebook? Twitter?  Digg?

Have you considered joining the Avon leadership program!

More to follow about leadership in upcoming posts!  But I can tell you there have been awesome changes to make it more lucrative!

Once again, Happy Avon New Year!

How to build an online Avon business-Dee Foster

Dee Foster is the, in my opinion, an internet network marketing guru!

Here is  her story from her website:

How to Build Your Avon Business (Or Any Business) Online

My Online journey with Avon started in March 2010.  However my online journey started as early as three years prior to that.

My Personal Journey (The Short Version)

I fell in love with the Network Marketing business model when  I was first introduced to Mary Kay over 10 years ago.
Though I had relatively good success with Mary Kay and was even in qualification to receive my first car at one point during my partnership with Mary Kay.  However, it got to the point where it was just too much for me to balance a full time job, with family, ministry and business.  I was at a very awkward point in my business.  I was having pretty good success but not enough to quit my job but just enough to be too busy with it that it started to affect other areas of my life.  I finally made a decision to close my Mary Kay business.
After that experience, I decided that I was no longer going to pursue Network Marketing any more, even though I still kept an eye out for other opportunities.  I did  eventually partner with another company and also started having success, but I soon gave that up as well, all because of the concept of ALL of these businesses being something that was marketed as what I could do in my OWN time and build a HOME BASED business, but really was not.   You see I DID NOT WANT to do parties, go to meeting every week and give presentations.
I wanted a business that was TRUELY a home based business in every sense of the word  So I got online and started my search on google.  Eventually I came across Wealthy Affiliate, an online business community created to teach anyone how to build a business online, or learn how to market and existing business online.
I stayed with this community for several years and learned how to start a website/blog in any niche and then find products to sell in that niche.  After about a year, I started to have some pretty good success with affiliate sites such as Amazon and generating income with Google advertisement.  I even gave up my membership, because at the time, I felt I  learned enough to make it on my own. Things were really starting to look up.  What I enjoyed more than anything was the fact that this was something I could TRUELY do FROM HOME.  NO PARTIES, NO MEETING, NO PRESENTATIONS ...

Return to My First Love

However, my mind kept going back to my first love...... Network Marketing.  I just started thinking that if I could apply these same strategies to a high converting Network Marketing company I could really make alot of money because I knew the commissions were much higher.
So, my restless Network Marketing heart was on the hunt again, in search of the perfect Network Marketing company to promote online. For me the perfect company had to be a company that had great products at very reasonable prices, where I did not have to sign anyone up in order for them to get a discount or having to become a distributor JUST to get the lower prices.  At that time, I had NOT INTEREST in recruiting.  Had enough of trying to motivate grown folk who SAID they wanted to build a business  and then not think enough of themselves to commit.  I had had enough of baby sitting.... Already had 5 kids of my own.  Didn't wany any more.
OK...... So I continued my search.  The perfect company for me also had to be one where the consumer could purchase products very easily without any hands on, for the most part AND the commissions were large enough that I could earn a fulltime income just from retailing the products alone without having to recruit.
The company that turned out to meet these qualifications for me was Avon.  Avon met all of these qualifications for me (you may not agree), but this is my story right?
  • They have great products at very affordable prices.
  • The customer can purchase directly from my website without having to become a "preferred member" just to get a discount.
  • The commissions are great (up to 45% for an ERep)
For me, this was the perfect recipe for a fulltime income FROM HOME, with no parties, no presentations and no recruiting (unless I wanted to).
Fast forward, three years after starting my Avon business as an E-Representative, I am a top seller in my district at the McConnel Club level and know I have all the pieces in place to grow my business to a fulltime income just from my personal sales alone.  I have also started building a team of Avon Representatives as well.

How You Can Build Your Avon or Any Business You Choose Online

When it comes to going online with any business, product or service, there is one thing I want you to never forget.  It is all about information.  First and foremost the internet is a source for information and research for people who are searching to solve a problem or fill a need.  90% of people who come on the internet, they are searching for information and not necessarily looking to buy right away.  The ones that are buying, they have already done the research.
What you will need to do and become extremely good at is positioning yourself to becoming a provider of great content that either solves a problem, or fills a specific need.  In the Internet Marcketing world, we refer to this a niche marketing.
The following are the steps you will need to complete in getting your business set up and making money online, whether it's Avon, Herbalife, or even building an online presence for a local business.
1.  Find a niche - What problem are you looking to solve? Who is your Target Audience? What benefits do you want to provide? (i.e.  Skin Care Tips for Women over 50, health care for children, etc.
2.  Do Keyword Research - Use paid or free tools to discover keywords for what people are searching online for.
3.  Buy a Domain Name - You will want to purchase a domain name for the site that you area going to set up.
4. Purchase Hosting Service - Yes you can use free social sites and free blogs like blogger.com.  However, if you are serious about building a sustainable business online, you DO NOT want to start your business using free sites. Why? Becuase you will not own it...
5. Install WordPress -  Once you purchase domain and hosting, you are now ready to install wordpress.
6.  Creat Quality Content -  Before your site even goes live, you will have wanted to already have written at least 15 - 20 articles that you can schedule on your blog so that the search engines will start to send spiders to your site and see that you have a site that is adding new content consistently.  Outside of keyword research, this step is where you will spend ALOT of time.  So prepare yourself.  If you are not a writer, you have several choices... Outsource your writing, buy PLR articles and edit them or you can create videos and post to your blog.
7. Promote Your Content:  Every peice of content you create on your blog will need to be promoted so that it can eventually be found by the search engines and also drive traffic from social sites and directories.  This process is also referred to as building backlinks (one way links that point back to the content you creat on your site.

It's That Simple! No Really ...

So that's it in a nutshell.  That is how I built my Avon business to the point that it is today.  I am not a guru by far.  I am not earning thousands of dollars per month, though I know it is only a matter of time before that will happen.  I am certainly closer that I was 3 years ago, for sure!  I am a regular person just like you and I am here to tell you that it IS POSSIBLE to build business on the internet with any company that you choose.
The process really is simply but it is hard work. Why?  You may not see results right away.  You have to be willing to stick with it.  I would say six months at the minimum. For me, it was actually an entire year before I started seeing results.  I would say don't compare yourself to me.  Everyone's situation is different.  Learning capacity, time you have to invest, etc all comes into play.
Be willing to commit to the process and let the outcome take care of itself. If you are serious about learning the complete process, here is a video I want you to watch when you can  block out at least an hour of time.  Let me know what you think?  CLICK HERE to watch it now.  This video and community will teach you all of the steps I outlined above. (visit Dee Foster  website to watch video)

I have great respect for this lady!

Network Marketing Plans For Your Avon Business!

Creating an effective marketing plan for your Avon business is a critical step in growing your business each year, but it doesn’t have to be hard or scary. You need a plan that will help you grow your business as well as being flexible enough for you to tweak as you go through the year.
Your plan does not have to be elaborate or huge, but it does need to work for you and be something you can follow. Here are a few things to think about as you develop your plan.
1) Identify what you want your business to do for you this year. Grow? Stay the same? Change? If so by how much?
2) Break that down into manageable pieces through a daily, weekly and monthly plan. For instance, if you want to grow your business by 52 customers in a year, that is basically 1 customer per week. Focus on what you can do to gain one customer per week and 4 per month. Where are you going to market to get that customer and how.
3) What tools will you need to make your plan happen? More books? More training? New venues? Break that into manageable pieces, weekly or monthly goals.
4) Track your success weekly so you know if you have everything working correctly. If something isn’t working, change it and try something new.
5) Be detailed on the how, where, when, who and what in your plan. The more detailed you are, the easier it will be to know what works and doesn’t work.
6) Keep your goals in front of you all the time so you make sure you are focusing on them and working towards them each time your work your business.
These are just a few tips to keep you on track of your marketing for your direct sales business. You will need to become specific on how and where you want to market your business. Be creative and make sure you stay accountable to yourself and you will be successful. When you have a plan, you will work your plan. Without a plan, you have no focus and no goal.

Online Marketing with Facebook

Here are excellent ways to promote our Avon business on Facebook! These suggestions are from Senior Executive Unit Leader Sue Mazza.

10 Easy Ways To Make Money With Facebook!

Are you ready to take your business to a whole new level of success with Facebook and Social Media Marketing?

Lots of people make money online.   As of February 2012, Facebook has more than 845 MILLION Active Users!  There are thousands of potential customers, helpers and team members who are waiting to hear from you.

This is not meant to be a complete training on making money withFacebook.  Just a few tips and techniques you can use to grow your friends, customers, team members and prospects.

I sponsor people every month through Facebook and find customers regularly too.  Sometimes it's a current or old friend that I've connected with but most of the time, they are people that I did not
know before.   We connect on Facebook through a Status Update, a Group or Mutual Friends or Interests.

As we build our relationship, I connect with them OFFLINE - by phone, mail or in person and begin to explore the possibilities of working together. You'll want to make Facebook part of your overall marketing strategy.  And yes, some of you are saying... I don't even have a marketing strategy!   Well, it's time to start!   What are your goals for growing your business?  Write them down. Then, develop online and offline marketing funnels to guide people into your
business!

1. Your About Page - be sure that your Website link for selling and recruiting are listed on your ABOUT page.   Make it easy for people to find you with your phone number, email and website.
Add your picture on you Profile, a picture of you, not your dog, baby, garden, etc.  People do business with those that they know, like and trust - a picture is a great way to foster that!

2. Connect with 2-5 Friends a Day, start chatting, and ask them -"So, what do you do?"   Get to know them, tell them what you do if they ask.  Don't push, the goal when prospecting on Facebook is to build relationships that you can move offline and then connect and grow by phone or in person.  TIP - Somewhere in your chats, you can ask:  "When's the last time you saw an Avon brochure?"

3. Have some Fun!  Play Games and introduce the Bug Bash Game to them - be careful of your time though, Facebook Games are a "time-sucker".  In fact, I call them the new "Soap Operas of the 2000s"!   TIP - You decide how much time each day or week that you will use to build your business.  Use your time that you dedicate to your business wisely.  Focus on things that will build your customers, your team or make you money.  90% of the time you dedicate to business should be focused on money-making activities.

4. Use The Tools - Check out the Social Media Section of your Web Office.  Get Started.
You may not feel like you are a computer whiz.  That's ok.  It's not brain surgery and I promise that your computer will not blow up!   Start using the E-Cards, Webinars and Widgets.  Widgets are clickable pictures available to you in your web office.  When you personalize the widget, and people click on it, it takes them right to your personal website.

5. Get Excited!   Share what you love about Avon - your personal story will do more to find you fans and customers than just posting your link alone.  That looks too sales-y.  Share something you love about Avon - a product, a paycheck, a perk... and then post your link.  Ask your friends and customers to post their own stories, photos and videos that reflect their interaction with you, the
products and the business.   People will be more engaged when they see others interacting as well.  TIP - For More Ideas on how to grow your business and have fun, subscribe to our newsletter at
www.suemazza.com/newsletter

6. Know Your Goals.   What do you want to accomplish while you are interacting online?  When you make a post, you need to decide who you want to attract with it.  Are you looking for customers?   Why not post some beauty tips - right from the brochure or website, with
your link after the post.   Post Free Shipping Codes - everyone loves a deal!   If you are looking to attract potential Team Members, post Money-Making Tips or Savings Tips, then end your post
with something like:  "Would you like to make more money without getting a Second Job"?  Or "Get an Extra Paycheck On Your Lunch Hour", then add your start.youravon.com website and reference code.

7. Be Consistent!    Take 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes at night and update your page, respond to messages and interact with your friends on your page.  Rome wasn't built in a day, and
neither will be your online business.    Don't just "like" a post, respond and get a conversation going.   Build relationships online and then take it to the next level offline.  This is an important
key - don't over-promote on Facebook.  Facebook is a social media - think of an "online playground".  Some people have serious discussions, but for the most part, keep it light.
TIP - Be Patient as well as consistent.  Recently, I sponsored someone who had become a "friend" months before.   Finally the time was right for her to start her business.  And because I
consistently post valuable and interesting content, she came to me on Facebook, even though she was a helper for someone else and lives 6 states away.

8. Build Your Brand.   Your Facebook page should reflect the best of who you are.  Be positive and think of what you want people to ee you as.   Be Genuine and transparent though.  Online and
offline, people can tell when you are not being sincere.   If you ant to be perceived as a product expert, post daily tips.  You on't need to post your link after each one if you post these
daily, once or twice a week should do!   TIP - Want to learn more bout branding and growing your usiness?  Check out our newest Coaching and Training Classes at  ww.suemazza.com/leadersedge

9. Mix It Up.  Share a variety of contents and media.  Post Links, Videos and Photos.  Photos and Videos are Viral, meaning that more people share them than if there is just a status update post.
People are also more likely to read a post that has an interesting image.  If you'd like to customize your photos, you can do so with many free programs, such as IRFANVIEW and PHOTOSHOP.  TIP - Find Videos from Avon on www.youtube.com or share them directly from the Avon Products Inc Facebook Page.

10. If you have a team, consider setting up a a private Facebook group for your team where you can talk shop, share tips and  get to know each other.  Invite your team members to invite their team
members too!  Make it a communication hub for sharing info, meetings, incentives and updates.   Not everyone on your team will be on Facebook so don't use it as a main training tool.  It's just
another way for us to connect and communicate.  TIP - Remember, it's not important how WE like to communicate, it's important to communicate in the way that your customers, team and prospects like to communicate!

Follow These 10 Tips and you will be on the road to Success in building relationships, doing business and making money online!

Here's To YOUR SUCCESS!

Beauty Consultant Career-Avon Representative has a $70,000 online Avon business!

I was on a conference call recently hosted by Sue Mazza, a Senior Executive Unit Leader, featuring guest Karla Howard Smith, an Avon representative who has a $70,000 Avon online business!

Like the hundreds who were on that call, I was fascinated and wanted to know HOW did she do it?

Here is her story:

Karla wanted to be a stay at home mom.  She didn't want to work full time away from home.
She had small children; but needed the income.

She decided to join Avon three years ago.  She also decided to build an online Avon business.

She was upfront with us.  She said she works her Avon business 40 hours a week.

First she developed an online presence by using all of the tools Avon has provided connecting with Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Digg, etc. She uses ALL social media programs.

She created a blog and promoted her Avon business.

Second she went out to stores, offices, anywhere she could, introduced herself, and offered a small gift (such as a mini-handcream) to anyone who would give her their email address!

Third, she set up tables at stores or businesses who would allow her and collected emails from their customers and/or employees.

Fourth, she had a table at events and had a drawing of Avon products and collected contact information from those who attended the event.

At the end of 8 months, that's right 8 months, she collected 3,000 email addresses.

She faithfully sends out Avon emails EVERY campaign to all 3,000 email addresses.

Again, she stressed that she works her Avon business full time from home.  Logs in 40 hours a week!

And in return:  She has a $70,000 business!  She mentioned that she was going to join leadership!  So, in essence, this is an individual's sales, not a team total!

Impressive!

I'm going to start a series of posts on online marketing.  And what it takes to build a $70,000 Avon business!

Rich and Famous Successful Representatives!

I've often been asked in the near fifteen years I've been with Avon, if any one makes money with an Avon business!

The answer is a definite yes!  How much is up to you and your commitment!

The video below will feature successful representatives who have achieved great status with their business.  They are just  like you and me!

One of those featured is Lisa Wilbur. I've long admired Lisa!   Wait until you hear her story!

She's an amazing representative and equally important, an amazing lady.

Here is an overview of her career:

Lisa Wilber has been selling products and recruiting new representatives for Avon since 1981 when she was 18 years old. She worked her Avon business part time until 1988 when she got down-sized out of her secretarial job. Her Avon income dramatically increased after 1993 when she joined Avon's Multi- level marketing program called Leadership. Lisa is currently the # 6 money earner in the country in the program with over 2,100 representives in her downline. During 2012, her downline sold almost $ 8 million dollars worth of products. She has earned 27 Avon all expenses paid trips including this years trip to Hawaii. Lisa is the author of Marketing Ideas for the Wild at Heart and owner of The Winner In You. She was the first Avon Representative to be featured in an Upline Journal success story and her story is prominently featured in Richard Poe's book "Wave 4". Interviews have also appeared in NH Business Review, Executive Female magazine, Home Business Connection magazine, Networking Times magazine, Empowering Women magazine, Avon Dreams magazine and the book "Dream Achievers". You'll see Lisa's story mentioned in the August 2003 issue of Fortune magazine and she was recently interviewed on the TV show HuffPost Live. Lisa Wilber is an internationally known speaker and professional member of the National Speakers Association and is one of the featured authors in the books "Build It Big" and "More Build It Big" from the Direct Selling Women's Alliance where she was named the Ambassador of the Year in 2004, 2007 and 2011. In 2007 she was given the highest honor awarded to Avon Representatives by being named "Woman of Enterprise" followed by her receiving the "Yellow Rose" award for dedication, courage, strength and perseverance in 2013. In 2008 and 2009 Lisa Wilber was named to the "Top 50 Most Influential People in Direct Sales" list by www.directsellinglive.com. Also on Direct Selling Live, Lisa was listed as # 12 on the "Most Powerful Women in Direct Sales" for 2009. Her most recent project is a book series that includes Avon Senior Executive Unit Leaders co- authoring books and audio interviews under the title "A View from the Top".

Lisa is featured in the Rich and Famous video below!
